Our firm provides fair market value (FMV) opinions for thousands of physician employment compensation arrangements every year. Employers who align their recruitment strategies with the market trends in this study can improve their chances of recruitment success and compete effectively for physician employees.

The Study reveals key trends and data, including:

 Physicians’ willingness to relocate is a major factor in competitive physician labor markets. Relocation trends affect the physician recruitment and retention prospects of thousands of medical groups, hospitals, and health systems.

 This study analyzes physicians’ geographic relocations during the nine-year period from January 2011 through December 2019 for a sample of 279,992 physicians who graduated from medical school between 1989 and 2016.

 This analysis was performed using data from semi-annual NPI record updates from 2011 through 2019, U.S. Census Bureau 2016 Gazetteer ZIP codes data, and Federal Office of Rural Health Policy (FORHP) ZIP code data files.
